Robin Mitchell

Position: General Manager/Executive Director

Bio: Robin joined the SLS FSC team in May 2010. Over the past 30 years he has managed several large recreational facilities in Calgary. He takes pride in being able to attract and retain good staff. His vision is to continue to build a staff culture of caring individuals that take pride in the facility they work at and who provide a positive customer experience. The goal is to provide an affordable and reasonable priced Sport and Recreation facility for the residents of the Town of Cochrane and the surrounding area of Rocky View County. SLS FSC has become the “Place to Go” offering something for all; families, seniors, adults, youth and sporting teams.

Brian Neave

Position: Assistant General Manager

Bio: Brian has been working with children and young people for the last 20 years in various capacities including the Youth Service, Social Services and the Boys and Girls Club. Brian is an accomplished Soccer Coach as well as holding qualifications in 5 other sports; he was trained under the National Coaching Foundation model of coaching excellence and is an advocate of Long Term Athlete Development. Brian’s other qualifications include, First Aid, Sports Injury Therapy, Diploma in Sports Science and Sports Psychology. Brian is a devoted family man with 4 children. Karen Lillejord

Position: Chief Financial Officer

Bio: Karen joined the team at SLS FSC in February 2017. Prior to her current position with SLS FSC, Karen served as Vice President Finance and Controller with Laricina Energy Ltd. She holds a Bachelor of Administration from the University of Regina along with the designations CPA, CA and CMA. Although she will always be a ‘Rider Fan’, her family has been a member of the Cochrane and SLS FSC community for many years. She enjoys photography, biking, Zumba, hiking and time at the lake.

Jessie Jacobs

Position: Fitness Centre Supervisor

Bio: Jessie’s interest in fitness started a few years ago when her dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. With his motivation she changed her lifestyle to get healthy, fit and strong. After losing 75 pounds she changed careers and became a Personal Trainer because she wanted to share her enthusiasm and help you realize what your body is capable of. In December 2014, she joined the SLS FSC team as the Fitness Centre Coordinator where she gets to to motivate, educate and support clients in achieving their goals while maintaining a positive, fun environment. When not at the facility she enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, camping, golfing, snowboarding, and biking. You can find Jessie in the Fitness Centre with a happy and encouraging welcome every day!

Paddy Maclure

Position: Operations Manager

Bio: Paddy came on board October 13 2009 as supervisor of the Totem Twin arenas. September 2010 he was appointed Operations Supervisor which over sees all maintenance issues to the sports centre. Prior to coming to the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, Paddy spent 13 years working for the Town of Canmore at the recreation centre working in numerous positions. Paddy brings experience and a light hearted, positive attitude to his staff and the patrons who participate at the sports centre. He was the Trainer for the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior hockey League for 14 years. Paddy is looking forward to the growth and opportunities that will be happening in the future at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Brian Boynton

Position: SLS FSC Operations Supervisor

Bio: Brian arrived from Pickering, Ontario in August 2007. He most recently operated his own painting business for 10 years but has worked in recreation for the City of Scarborough and has a Sports Administration Diploma from Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. He has coached competitive fastball, soccer, and recreational hockey. His passion was the Durham West Girl’s Hockey Association in Ajax/Pickering where he was on the executive for 5 years. He has coached recreational soccer here in Cochrane and plans to in the future. Brian would like to recognize that he is the only Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan in Cochrane. He enjoys working with the staff and takes great pride in making the building look good.

Erika Lof

Position: Health and Safety Manager

Bio: Erika joined the team at SLS FSC in January 2018. She has worked in the field as a Health & Safety coordinator in remote drilling/exploratory camps where she lead a team of HSE advisors, medics, on-site security and road monitors to ensure project activities operated within company and legislative HSE requirements and expectations.  Prior to her current position with SLS FSC, Erika served as the Health, Safety and Environmental Lead as part of the corporate team with Laricina Energy Ltd. She has built Health and Safety management plans from the ground up while promoting a positive safety culture across all levels of the organization.  During her down time, you will often find Erika and her family here in the Totem Arenas as a proud hockey Mom. Erika and her family are also avid travelers, hikers and kayakers.

Karen Henry

Position: Human Resources and Payroll Administrator

Bio: Karen joined the SLS FSC team in February 2015. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria and a Human Resources Management Certificate from Portland State University. While working in the US, she worked in Human Resources for seven years. After moving back to Canada, she ran her own home-based business as a stay-at-home parent for many years, as well as being an avid volunteer. In her spare time she is dedicated to her kids and getting them to/from their activities, but also loves photography, scrapbooking and racing dirt bikes. Her active lifestyle made this transition to SLS FSC a natural fit.

Tara Greene

Position: Program Supervisor

Bio: Tara has been working in the fitness industry here at SLS SFC since January of 2012. She is an AFLCA Resistance Training Specialist as well as has her Barre, Zumba, Zumba Gold & STRONG by Zumba licenses. She is very passionate about fitness and brings with her years of customer service experience. Tara is also a mother of 3, who when not found at SLS FSC, is usually driving her kids around to their sports activities! Her family loves the outdoors and enjoys camping in the beautiful mountains to the west of Cochrane.

Morgan Muise

Position: Curling Programs and Bookings Coordinator

Bio: Morgan joined SLS FSC as the Curling Programs and Bookings Coordinator in August 2017. She has taught Learn to Curl programs to people of all ages. Most recently she taught the Adult Learn to Curl programs at the Cochrane Curling Club, and was an instructor at the Calgary Curling Club with their Junior programs. Morgan worked as an Ice Tech at the Cochrane and Calgary Curling Clubs during the 2015-16 season and as the Program Coordinator for the Southern Alberta Curling Association for the 2016-2017 season, she is excited to join our team as our “all things curling” person! Fun fact about Morgan: she has represented 3 different provinces at 3 different levels of Canadian Championships and represented Canada at 1 worlds. NS Jr Champ, NB Scotties Champ, 2 X AB Travelers Champ 2014 & 2016 (Silver Medalist). She is very excited to help grow the sport of curling in Cochrane by introducing Curling to anyone who wants to give it a try!

Nicky Quigley

Position: Bookings Supervisor

Bio: Nicky graduated from Lethbridge College in 2006 with a Diploma in Business Administration majoring in Hotel & Restaurant Management. Nicky joined the team at SLSFSC in November 2012. Prior to her current position at SLSFSC she worked as the Tournament Sales Coordinator for the Kananaskis Country Golf Course from 2006-2012. In her spare time she can be found golfing, playing volleyball or spending time with her husband Shaun and dog Woody.

Ben Marasco

Position: Aquatic Manager

Bio: : Ben joined the Aquatic Supervisory team at SLS FSC in June 2017 and became the Aquatic Manager in July 2018. In addition to being an Advanced Aquatic & First Aid Instructor/Trainer for many years, Ben attended Mount Royal University for Bachelor of Business Administration and is an experienced Event Manager and DJ. When he gets time away from the pool, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife Ashley and playing with their dogs; O'Neill, Sadie & Molly.

Doug Shelley

Position: Pool Operations Supervisor

Bio: Doug joined the SLS FSC team May 1, 2017. He is excited to be in Cochrane living his dream. Doug has a Physical Education Degree and a management certificate from the University of Calgary, as well as, a maintenance diploma from SAIT. Doug retired from the City of Calgary with 40 years of experience in aquatics. His passions are Jesus, family, swimming, golfing, and camping. Doug and his wife Elise have 4 daughters and 1 son. His goal is to make the Jayman BUILT Aquatic Centre the destination choice for all Albertans.

Hillary Richardson

Position: Marketing and Sales Director

Bio: Hillary is excited to market Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre as Cochrane’s major attraction and community hub, joining the team in August 2017. Previously Hillary was the Executive Director of the Cochrane Tourism Association. Hillary is experienced in marketing communications, media relations, strategic planning, event planning, social media, and online marketing.

Elise Shelley

Position: Aquatic Director

Bio: Elise started with SLSFSC in June of 2017. She comes to us with over 25 years of experience in Aquatics and First Aid. She has five children, three dogs and one very active husband. When she is not working, you can find her helping at-risk teens and supporting women exiting human trafficking. She is also an avid quilter.

Erik Smith

Position: Junior Financial Accountant

Bio: Erik joined SLS FSC in February 2018. Erik holds a Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge and is currently working his CPA designation. Prior to joining SLS FSC, Erik was an Accountant working for Ensign Energy Services, an oilfield service company in Calgary. In his spare time Erik enjoys running and biking around his local neighborhood.
