Robin Mitchell

Position: General Manager/Executive Director

Bio: Robin joined the SLS FSC team in May 2010. Over the past 30 years he has managed several large recreational facilities in Calgary. He takes pride in being able to attract and retain good staff. With the new expansion opening in 2017, his vision is to continue to build a staff culture of caring individuals that take pride in the facility they work at and who provide a positive customer experience. The goal is to provide an affordable and reasonable priced Sport and Recreation facility for the residents of the Town of Cochrane and the surrounding area of Rocky View County. SLS FSC has become the “Place to Go” offering something for all; families, seniors, adults, youth and sporting teams.

Brian Neave

Position: Assistant General Manager

Bio: Brian has been working with children and young people for the last 20 years in various capacities including the Youth Service, Social Services and the Boys and Girls Club. Brian is an accomplished Soccer Coach as well as holding qualifications in 5 other sports; he was trained under the National Coaching Foundation model of coaching excellence and is an advocate of Long Term Athlete Development. Brian’s other qualifications include, First Aid, Sports Injury Therapy, Diploma in Sports Science and Sports Psychology. Brian is a devoted family man with 4 children and 17 years of marriage under his belt. He has a wonderful sense of humor and yes he is British…

Nicky Quigley

Position: Booking Coordinator

Bio: Started in November 2012. Nicky graduated from Lethbridge College in 2006 with a Diploma in Business Administration majoring in Hotel & Restaurant Management. Since 2006, she worked as the Sales Coordinator for the Kananaskis Country Golf Course. In her spare time she can be found golfing, playing volleyball or spending time with her friends and family. Nicky is looking forward to being a part of our team and seeing both new and familiar faces around SLS FSC!

Shawna Kerr-Smith

Position: Marketing & Events Coordinator

Bio: Shawna is full of energy and leads a very active life so joining the SLS FSC team is no surprise to her friends and family. She brings with her an abundance of creativity and a passion for sports that is sure to impact the events she is organizing. Shawna spends the majority of her free time exploring the mountains, snowboarding when the weather permits, and bike riding for both transportation and pleasure. She loves enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

Donna Dougan

Position: Finance Administrator

Bio: Donna has worked for the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre since February 2004. She has watched the facility grow from a single rink to the multi facility complex it is today and is pleased to be a part of the future growth and development. Over the past nine years she has done almost every job in the facility except for driving the Olympia because Brian and Paddy won’t let her. She is certified as an Oil & Gas Production Accountant and has worked in various areas of Joint Venture Accounting. She has lived in Cochrane for 34 years and enjoys spending as much time as possible with her family. She is currently enjoying her new role as “Gramma”.

MJ Stead

Position: Guest Services Supervisor

Bio: MJ started in March 2013, bringing with her a strong Customer Service background and commitment to ensuring our Members and Guests experience the best of Customer Service when visiting our facility. MJ relocated to Cochrane from
Ontario in 2011 and has quickly become known in the community as the founder and administrator for the popular Facebook group ‘Cochrane Networks” that she created in support of local businesses. MJ has been an artist most of her life and owns a local Face Painting company “Face Painting by MJ”.

Brian Boynton

Position: SLS FSC Operations Supervisor
Bio: Brian arrived from Pickering, Ontario in August 2007. He most recently operated his own painting business for 10 years but has worked in recreation for the City of Scarborough and has a Sports Administration Diploma from Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. He has coached competitive fastball, soccer, and recreation hockey. His passion was Durham West Girl’s Hockey Association in Ajax Pickering where he was on the executive for 5 years. He has coached recreation soccer here in Cochrane and plans to in the future. Brian would like to recognize that he is the only Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan in Cochrane. He enjoys working with the staff and takes great pride in making the building look good.

Paddy Maclure

Position: Operations Manager

Bio: Paddy came on board October 13 2009 as supervisor of the Totem Twin arenas. September 2010 he was appointed Operations Supervisor which over sees all maintenance issues to the sports centre. Prior to coming to the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, Paddy spent 13 years working for the Town of Canmore at the recreation Centre working numerous positions. Paddy brings experience and a light hearted, positive attitude to his staff and the patrons who participate at the sports centre. He was the Trainer for the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior hockey League for 14 years. Paddy is looking forward to the growth and opportunities that will be happening in the future at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Tara Greene

Position: Adult Program Coordinator (Fitness)

Bio: Tara has been working in the fitness industry here at SLS SFC since January of 2012. She is an AFLCA Resistance Training Specialist as well as has her Zumba, Zumba Gold & STRONG by Zumba licenses. She is very passionate about fitness and brings with her years of customer service experience. Tara is also a mother of 3, who when not found at SLS FSC, is usually driving her kids around to their sports activities! Her family loves the outdoors and enjoys camping in the beautiful mountains to the west of Cochrane.

Jessie Craig

Position: Fitness Centre Coordinator

Bio: Jessie’s interest in fitness started a few years ago when her dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  With his motivation she change her lifestyle to get healthy, fit and strong.  After losing 75 pounds she changed careers and became a Personal Trainer because she wanted to share her enthusiasm, encourage a happier lifestyle and help you realize what your body is capable of. In December 2014, she joined the SLS FSC team as the Fitness Centre Coordinator where she gets to to motivate, educate and support clients in achieving their goals while maintaining a positive, fun environment. When not at the facility she enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, camping, golfing, snowboarding, and biking. You can find Jessie in the Fitness Centre with a happy and encouraging welcome every day!

Karen Henry

Position: Human Resources

Bio: Karen joined the SLS FSC team in February 2015. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria and a Human Resources Management Certificate from Portland State University. While working in the US, she worked in Human Resources for seven years. After moving back to Canada, she ran her own home-based business as a stay-at-home parent for many years, as well as being an avid volunteer. In her spare time she is dedicated to her kids and getting them to/from their activities, but also loves photography, scrapbooking and racing dirt bikes. Her active lifestyle made this transition to SLS FSC a natural fit.

Karen Lillejord

Position: Chief Financial Officer

Bio: Karen joined the team at SLS FSC in February 2017. Prior to her current position with SLS FSC, Karen served as Vice President Finance and Controller with Laricina Energy Ltd. She holds a Bachelor of Administration from the University of Regina along with the designations CPA, CA and CPA, CMA. Although she will always be a ‘Rider Fan’, her family has been a member of the Cochrane and SLS FSC community for many years. She enjoys photography, biking, Zumba, hiking and time at the lake.

John Napier

Position: Aquatics Manager

Bio: John Napier managed the Big Hill Leisure Pool in Cochrane from 2010 until the doors closed in 2017. He has been a part of the aquatics world for over 25 years and has always held a strong passion for swimming and water safety. His volunteer work with the Canadian Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program has taken him across the country and even over to China to introduce our swimming lesson program to a country that has one of the highest drowning rates in the world. John and his aquatics team are excited to be a part of the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre Family.

Danielle Ulriksen

Position: Aquatic Bookings & Program Coordinator

Bio: D.J. started at the Big Hill Leisure Pool in 2009. She worked as a lifeguard/instructor and receptionist through a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary and graduated with Distinction in 2014. DJ is now coming to SLSFSC in 2017 with 8 years of experience to help open the new aquatic centre as the Bookings & Program Coordinator. When she gets time away from the pool, DJ enjoys playing with her crazy dog Dozer and spending time with friends and family.

Diane Sis

Position: Aquatic Coordinator

Bio:  Diane re-invented herself by heading back into Aquatics after a long absence. She has been in the Aquatic World for 10 years now. Di tends to lose herself when teaching swim lessons whether it be babies in a parented class or adults in a lifeguard course. She finds it hard to believe she gets paid for having so much fun! Don't tell the boss! Away from the world of aquatics you will find her running on the trails, snowboarding, mountain biking or cross country skiing. Nemo tends to hang out with her no matter where she is:)

Morgan Muise

Position: Curling Programs and Bookings Coordinator

Bio: Morgan joined SLS FSC as the Curling Programs and Bookings Coordinator in August 2017. She has taught Learn to Curl programs to people of all ages in the past, most recently she taught the Adult Learn to Curl programs at the Cochrane Curling Club, and was an instructor at the Calgary Curling Club with their Junior programs.  Morgan worked as an Ice Tech at the Cochrane and Calgary Curling Clubs during the 2015-16 season and as the Program Coordinator for the Southern Alberta Curling Association for the 2016-2017 season, she is excited to join our team as our “all things curling” person!  Fun fact about Morgan: she has represented 3 different provinces at 3 different levels of Canadian Championships and represented Canada at 1 worlds.  NS Jr Champ, NB Scotties Champ, 2 X AB Travelers Champ 2014 & 2016 (Silver Medalist).  She is very excited to help grow the sport of curling in Cochrane by introducing Curling to anyone who wants to give it a try!

Kris Creor

Position: Youth Program Coordinator

Bio:Kris came to SLSFSC in September 2016 to become the Youth Program Coordinator. He has always had a passion for sports and recreation and has been coaching skiing since he was 15. After moving to Calgary in 2014 from Ontario, Kris starting getting more involved with youth programs working with summer camps and school groups facilitating climbing and team building activities. He also had the opportunity to become one of the Head Coaches of the Alpine Ski Racing Team at Winsport Academy. Away from SLSFSC, you can find Kris playing softball or camping in the summer and skiing in the winter most evenings and weekends.
